GT Collects Supplies for Mercy Health Clinic and other Grantees
During the January 2024 national month of service, GT members and local pharmacies (such as Brookville Pharmacy and Wellness Center) donated several hundred dollars-worth of over-the-counter medicine and health and hygiene products to GT's 2020/21 grantee Mercy Health Clinic (MHC). These high priority items are needed all year-round to meet demand for inpatient care that MHC provides free to local residents who don't have health insurance or cannot afford to pay. Mercy Health Clinic is staffed primarily with volunteer doctors and nurses and was founded 20 years ago to serve low-income and immigrant households in the Gaithersburg area. Patients, including teens (with support from Giving Together), receive both primary and preventive care, along with referrals for more specialized care.
Also during January, GT Community Service sponsored two other drives for our grantee organizations. Members collected winter coats for A Wider Circle and Interfaith Works and donated school supplies to the George B. Thomas Saturday School.
