On June 4,  Giving Together held a discussion forum with three of our members who are first-time ("debut") published authors of award-winning books: Anita Lampel, Dian Siedel and Herta Feely. Anita talked about her novel Helen, set  in 1936 Los Angeles, about a young woman who goes undercover to infiltrate the US Nazi movement. Dian's memoir Kindergarten at 60 tells of her adventure in Thailand just before Covid, when she and her husband found themselves unexpectedly teaching English to 2-year olds in a small city not far from Bangkok.  Herta described how she drew on a terrible true event to craft a novel about a young teen who is cyber bullied.  GT's Christine Kessides, author of the historical novel Magda, Standing and a picture book A Tail Tale, moderated the discussion, which was well attended by some 30 GT members and guests. The authors sold copies of their books at the event, which was held at the Town Hall of the Town of Chevy Chase.
