In an article on collective giving in the September-October 2026 edition of Bethesda Magazine, Giving Together is one of three area giving circles prominently profiled. The double-page article, “Getting Together to Give Together” by William Armstead, shows that when giving-circle members pool their money and resources, the local community reaps tremendous benefits.
In addition to GT, the article profiles Many Hands and DIVAS – Donors Investing in the Arts. The article also interviews Anna Hargrave, the Greater Washington Community Foundation’s Executive Director for Montgomery County. According to Anna, who has worked closely with GT over the years to help us build our program, “a giving circle is kind of like an investment club or book club … specifically for people who are coming together to pool their charitable resources so they can make a deeper impact than anyone could alone.”
The article’s section on Giving Together quotes Co-President Marea Hatziolos and primarily focuses on our grantmaking, including both the Thematic and Accelerator grants categories. It also describes our Community Service program, which helps our grantees through our members’ volunteer efforts.
