In addition to funding our major grants, GT raises money throughout the year for our Emergency Fund. The proceeds help our community in crisis situations and aid individuals and families with immediate financial needs, such as  a month’s rent to avoid eviction, a utility payment to keep the lights on, or coverage of a medical emergency. Traditionally, the GT Emergency Fund makes an annual award to the Greater Washington Community Foundation’s (GWCF) Neighbors in Need Montgomery program, where GT’s contribution is matched 100%. We’ve also dedicated fundraisers to the GWCF Emergency COVID Response Fund, the countywide Food for Montgomery initiative, and refugee resettlement in the Greater Washington area.​
