Spring Event 2026: Members Celebrate and Raise $$$
Giving Together's annual Spring Event was held on May 13 at Chevy Chase Village Hall. The fundraiser was a lively celebration of GT's community grantmaking and the generosity of GT's members and friends. Proceeds from the event go to GT's Emergency Fund for Individuals and Families in Crisis. While guests dined on delicious food and drink, GT Co-presidents Susan Alberts and Marea Hatziolos Grant explained that the Emergency Fund is separate from GT's regular grantmakin


GT Awards $120,000 to Area Non-Profits at 2025 Annual Meeting
At Giving Together's Annual Meeting of the members on September 25th, 2025, our giving circle voted for a total of $120,000 in grants to area non-profits. In the two-year Thematic category, the top award of $60,000 over two years went to Identity, Inc. In the Accelerator Grants category, where the focus is on local BIPOC-led non-profits, the top award of $40,000 over two years went to Trabajadores Unidos de Washington, DC. GT Authors Discuss their Books at Forum for Members
On June 4, Giving Together held a discussion forum with three of our members who are first-time ("debut") published authors of award-winning books: Anita Lampel, Dian Siedel and Herta Feely. Anita talked about her novel Helen, set in 1936 Los Angeles, about a young woman who goes undercover to infiltrate the US Nazi movement. Dian's memoir Kindergarten at 60 tells of her adventure in Thailand just before Covid, when she and her husband found themselves unexpectedly teaching


GT Leadership Development Awards Named for Jeanne Spivak
At Giving Together’s 2025 Spring fundraising event in May, GT announced the first recipients of the Jeanne Spivak Leadership Development Award. The purpose of the award is to enhance the leadership skills of Executive Directors of non-profit organizations that have previously been awarded GT Accelerator grants.
