Sickle Cell Reproductive Health
Education Directive (SC RED)

sicklecellred.org

SC RED (Sickle Cell Reproductive Health Education Directive) is the first and only organization in the world solely focused on addressing the reproductive, sexual, and maternal health needs of individuals with sickle cell disease (SCD). While their programs center the urgent needs of women and children—offering disease-specific information on puberty, menstruation, contraception, pregnancy, infertility, and menopause—SC RED also engages men and non-birthing individuals to ensure comprehensive reproductive health support across the entire SCD community. Through education, peer and family support, research, grants, and advocacy, SC RED works to close longstanding gaps in access and awareness and to advance reproductive, maternal, and sexual health equity for everyone affected by SCD. The organization remains committed to being inclusive, innovative, responsive, and proactive, ensuring its work evolves alongside the needs of the community.
