Crossroads Community Food Network
crossroadscommunityfoodnetwork.org

Crossroads is building a more equitable food system in the predominantly immigrant Takoma/Langley Crossroads community. Its farmers market fights food insecurity with a benefits-matching program and hands-on, culturally relevant nutrition activities for families. Beyond the market, Crossroads empowers historically excluded food entrepreneurs with affordable commercial kitchen access and free bilingual business support, helping local food businesses grow and thrive.
Key programs:
-
Fresh Checks – Nutrition incentives at Crossroads Farmers Market that match SNAP and WIC benefits dollar for dollar.
-
Healthy Eating Programs – Food demos and hands-on activities at the market that teach primarily families with young children how to enjoy fresh, seasonal foods.
-
Food Business Support – Free, bilingual workshops and technical assistance for primarily low-resource food entrepreneurs.
-
Community Kitchen Access – Shared commercial kitchen space for food entrepreneurs to develop and grow their businesses, which GT helped furnish
Ways to Support CCFN:
-
$50 – Provides 1 family with a week’s worth of Fresh Checks, which match SNAP & WIC benefits spent on fresh produce at Crossroads Farmers Market.
-
$80 – Covers the cost of 2 weeks’ worth of healthy food demo ingredients and kids’ Healthy Eating Program activities at the market.
-
$150 – Supports 10 hours of TPSS Community Kitchen use for a low-resource food business owner.
-
$250 – Provides 5 families with a week’s worth of Fresh Checks at Crossroads Farmers Market.
